Marathon Map

The following map of the entire course is interactive and is linked to ridewithgps.com.  When viewing the interactive map, you can highlight a section of the course to view a more detailed elevation chart of that section.  To view a more detailed section:

  1. Move your cursor along the x-axis (mileage) of the elevation graph.  Mileage, elevation, and % grade will be displayed.
  2. Click and hold a beginning point on the elevation graph.  Drag your cursor and highlight the segment/distance that you wish to view in greater detail.  When you release your mouse, the highlighted segment will be displayed.
  3. To return to the full graph, single click the “de-select” button.

Marathon Course Notes:

  1. The course is predominantly paved with 2 dirt/gravel road sections.
  2. The first dirt/gravel section is approximately Mile 6 – 6.5 and is a flat section adjacent to the river.
  3. The second section of dirt/gravel road is Mack Woodie Dr. (Miles 17.5 – 18.5), which is a new section of the 2015 course.  This section has one aggressive uphill (mile 17.9-18.0), otherwise it’s gently rolling.  Mack Woodie Dr is a private road and cannot be viewed in advance of the Marathon.  You will be charmed by this section of the Marathon course.
  4. After Mack Woodie Dr, the Call Creek hill (miles 18.6 – 19.1) is paved, 0.5 mile long and has 195 ft of gain.  At Mile 18.9 is a dog rescue facility.  It is fully fenced and the dogs are friendly and secure…although they do bark.
  5. The start is on the Cranberry Springs Bridge, which straddles the New River.  You will be starting above the New River.
  6. The finish is on grass.  The final 100 meters is grass in the field behind the Riverside Restaurant.
